  • Bertie & Boo Traditional Sign

Traditional signwriting was THE original form of advertising: signwriting is just so versatile, in the colours that can be used, the style of lettering and the fact that we can signwrite onto almost any surface. Signwriting has always been sought after for that individual special hand crafted look. Hand painted signs are not restricted by effects drawn on various computer programmes, we are only limited by our imagination! And our brush of course!

We have taken this tradition, from our roots as a ‘one man band ‘in the 60’s to the present day. It is in our heritage to produce hand crafted, hand painted well designed signs with attention to detail, just for you. We feel that this approach helps us to produce a painted sign that speaks volumes about your business.

From initial contact, either by phone or email, we endeavour to look after you. Our design at this stage may just be a simple thumbnail sketch, an artist’s watercolour sketch or a computer generated colour drawing, but whatever it is, we will not manufacture your sign until you are completely happy with the design.

All our wooden signs are made from the finest sustainable timbers: frames are softwood or hardwood, with marine birch ply face, all glued with exterior PVC glue and screwed with zinc coated screws. Then we coat the signs with 2 coats of primer, 2 undercoats and finally at least 2 top coats, producing a smooth hand painted finish. Only once this process has been completed, will one of our signwriters hand signwrite your sign to your approved design, whether it be in colour, gold leaf, or a mixture of both, with maybe a painted logo or pictorial.

Because we started out as a one man band, we are ideally situated to help you with your signage solutions, whether you are an individual shop through to large brands. Our office operates from 9am – 4.30pm, and our knowledgeable staff can answer any queries you may have, or tell you how your job is progressing.
